Time Travel Tourist – the Apollo Adventurers

It was in July 1969 that Neil Armstrong stepped onto the lunar landscape and uttered the famous words, “That’s one small step for man, one giant leap for mankind.” Since then, only another eleven astronauts have walked on the moon – and none since 1972.

Introduction

This programme gives children a unique perspective on the Apollo moon landings by giving them a chance to meet ‘Neil Armstrong’, the first human on the moon. Commander Armstrong will guide the pupils through a range of drama-based activites designed to bring to life the long journey that took him into space. They’ll get the opportunity to lear about some of the backroom figures – and, of course, to ask the commander their own questions.

Exploring (according to age): preparations for the mission; history, characteristics and composition of the moon; the Apollo 11 astronauts; the role of the moon in future space exploration.

We have lots of other Time Travel Tourists available, too, including; Mrs PankhurstGeneral HaigSiegfried Sassoon and Kitty Wilkinson. So if there’s someone that your pupils would like to meet – just ask!
